Choosey Goosey
Choosey Goosey is a 2 player, 15 minute, 18 card simultaneous voting and set collection game where players are choosing cards from the center to add to their goose stack to score points on what sets of clothing the goose is wearing.
Player Interaction
While you’re dressing Gabby Goose, so is your opponent. Watch out for what clothing they choose. Chat them up and trick them into choosing the wrong card. Besides its whimsical art, Choosey Goosey plays a lot on Reverse Psychology. You and your opponent have an equal chance of any of the cards in the center, meaning you can easily get matching pairs…or can you? Be careful, your opponent could dupe you at any moment and deny you of that triple bowtie!
Limited cards, high replayability
Choosey Goosey only consists of 18 cards, making for a great game to slip in your pocket. All the goose cards are double-sided with different geese on each side, making no game ever the same.
Decisions, decisions
As its name suggests, Choosey Goosey is about choices. Every time you pick a card in the center you’re deciding on if you want to pursue matching pairs, a 3 of a kind, or multiple different clothes. Your starting goose helps influence you on what to choose, but what if there’s nothing in the center that’s worth going for? Check the top card of the draw pile. This card will flip over when filling the empty spots in the center, so it tells what card NOT to go for.
Rules
Setup
Give one player all the “Player A” cards and the other player all “Player B” cards.
Shuffle the remaining cards and place a card in front of each player.
Place the deck between the players, and flip over three cards in a line next to the deck.
Gameplay
Choosey Goosey is played over a series of three rounds, each round having multiple voting actions. A round ends when the final card of the deck is flipped and a final vote takes place.
Players use voting cards to secretly choose one of the three cards from the center line. The voting card points to which card in the row. Once players have chosen a voting card to play, they reveal it at the same time. If the same card isn’t chosen, players take the card they voted for and cover the head of the goose on the card in front of them (glasses can be covered).
Flip over cards from the deck to refill the empty spots in line. Any cards that were not taken do not move from their position in line.
Bump - Matching Votes
If the players vote on the same clothing card, no one gets the card and it is discarded to the side. Flip over a new clothing card to refill the empty spot.
If three bumps occur in the same round, the round is over. Move on to the next round, with each player receiving zero points.
Final Voting
Once the last card of the deck is flipped, the last voting of the round happens. It is possible only two cards may be available for the final voting.
Ending a Round
Once the final vote happens, check the clothing on your goose to determine your score for the round. Then add your score to the previous rounds. Clothing does not need to be sequential and can be used for multiple sets (example: a scarf can be scored as a pair and as 4 out of 6 clothing types).
Ending the Game
Once the third round has happened and the scores have been tallied, whoever has the most points wins!
